Dr. Girardot

Dr. Andrew Girardot, Jr., D.D.S., P.C.

Dr. Girardot is a Colorado native; he grew up in Denver and completed his pre-dental studies at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Dr. G and his wife Judy have been married for over 40 years, and have four lovely daughters. Besides his family Dr. G’s two great loves are orthodontics and fly fishing.

Dr. Girardot attended dental school at the University of Southern California where he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class with a distinguished award for clinical skills. After graduation he taught operative dentistry for two years at USC, then he entered orthodontic school there. In the two year interim between dental and orthodontic schools, Dr. G cultivated a strong interest for restorative dentistry and especially full mouth rehabilitation, which involves restoring most, if not all, of the teeth at one time, and requires a thorough knowledge of the function of the chewing system.

Upon entering orthodontics, Dr. G found the orthodontic specialty to be lacking in knowledge of jaw function. He searched the specialty for someone versed in function as well as tooth alignment, and finally found Dr. Ron Roth, a superb clinician, teacher, and innovator. In 1977 Dr. G completed Dr. Roth’s course, and that began their long association. Dr. Girardot formed the first Roth study group, and later began teaching with Dr. Roth. The two year Roth Course teaches orthodontists how to integrate the principles of function into their work.

Early in his orthodontic career Dr. G was a continuing education “junkie”, taking every course he could. He felt then, as he does now, continuing education is the key to a gratifying professional career. Now the tables have turned and Dr. G is teaching and lecturing worldwide. He has authored numerous articles in the orthodontic literature, most especially pertaining to healthy function of the chewing system and integrating these concepts into orthodontics. Dr. G has learned that the secret to long term health and stability of the chewing system is to achieve, as closely as possible, natures’ ideal harmony between the teeth, jaw joints, and muscles. We believe a pretty smile is important, but it will not last without the correct marriage of form and function within the entire system.

Eventually Dr. Roth closed his school in San Francisco due to intense demand for his teachings worldwide. In order to maintain availability of the Roth Philosophy to American orthodontists, Dr. Girardot, along with his partners Dr. Bob Frantz and Dr. Ted Freeland, formed the AEO Institute. For many years, this was the only Roth/Williams School in the United States, and the only place in this country where orthodontists could learn one comprehensive philosophy designed to blend aesthetics, function, health, and stability into orthodontic practice. Dr. G continues to teach the Roth philosophy nationally and internationally.

Dr. G’s career pathway as a clinician and teacher, has earned him a strong reputation in the orthodontic profession. Dr. G is on the faculty of the University of Colorado. He enjoys a very busy schedule, divided between his practice, teaching, writing, lecturing, time with his family, and some fly fishing.

One of Dr. G’s career goals is to maintain a practice that stands as an example for the integration of clinical excellence and customer service, with a balanced and happy environment for patients and staff.
